Brewster - Harwich - Orleans (Informal) Food Coop

What an absolutely exciting venture – fresh food, unusual varieties, from local small farms when in season, organic whenever possible, unbeatable prices…

We are committed to finding and sharing wonderful, healthy fresh foods at affordable prices for ourselves, Brewster Acupuncture’s clients, and our larger community.

We purchase on your behalf – as a not-for profit venture. You participate by offering your support as needed.

Sid Wainer & Son is our provider. You can check them out online. They are committed to sustainable agriculture and high quality.

Initial fee: $20

On a weekly basis…
We order by the case – this allows us wholesale prices and a greater variety of choice from small family farms. In order to know what and how much to order, we need to have a pretty good idea of what individual families would like to have, in a timely manner. The following system – it will be amended as needed - seems to work well for now:

You will receive an email on Tuesday with the list of prospective food items.
We need an email response by the next day (Wednesday by noon) of what you would like and an idea of how much of each item.

From your response we will gage if there is enough interest in a food item to order a case. If we don’t get the majority of your responses on time then we will not be able to place the order.
If you are not able to place your order by Wednesday noon but still want food for the week, please email your request in. Often we will have extra available.

The food is delivered to us on Saturday morning. Your orders are packed by fellow participants – doing weighing where necessary – then we amend your receipt based on the exact price and amount you get. Your orders are ready for pick-up Saturday at noontime and through the rest of the day.

We are located at:

1217 Main Street in Brewster.

There is a side street (doran drive) with access to the house from the side where the vegetable boxes are.

(The Main Street entrance is for our Acupuncture Practice.)

Our telephone number: 508-896-1335

Our E-Mail: alihamm@verizon.net

Please bring your empty waxed vegetable boxes back to us when you pick up your next order – we definitely need them back.

You may leave us cash or a check (Razia or Andrew Ali Hamm) for the amount on your receipt. If you are unhappy with the quality of any item – please put it aside and let us know. We can get a refund if we return unsatisfactory produce.
